Regarding Security, Fingerprinting and Background Checks: Our visiting artists have no direct, unmonitored contact with students. Therefore, to our knowledge, visiting artists shall not be required to be fingerprinted to gain access to schools.
Please see some examples from Department of Education websites in the following states:
State of Florida: Jessica Lunford Act. Fingerprinting is not required for our artists in Florida schools. Level 1 screening is required. Schools may request the completion of a volunteer application in advance of the performance and principals may approve admittance with a visitor’s badge.
State of Massachusetts: CORI Law Policy. Fingerprinting is not required, as our artists have no direct, unmonitored contact with students. Note: For workshop sessions, teachers are required to be present for the entire session.
